Humayun Tomb Delhi-Historic Tomb of Mughal Emperors- The Humayun Tomb is the first-ever Mughal Architecture, which was located in Nizamuddin East, Delhi, this is a neighbor to Dina Panah Citadel, which is also known as Old Fort. In the year 1993, The Humayun-tomb Delhi was announced as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
This beautiful tomb was constructed with red sandstone and white marbles. The garden surrounded by the tomb was designed in Persian style with four walkways close to the bank of Yamuna river, which gives an amazing view to the visitors even after many years. A Quick View on Humayun Tomb History
The Humayun Tomb Delhi was the tomb of Mughal Emperor Humayun whereas Humayun was the Emperor in 1533. After nine years of Emperor Humayun’s death, in the year 1565, the construction of the tomb had taken place. The garden tomb was built by his first wife Empress Bega Begum alias Haji Begum. Besides Taj Mahal which is well famous as a love symbol, Humayun Tomb Delhi is also was built the list, it is a representation of the wife’s love for her deceased husband.
The Empress had personally chosen Mirak Mirza Ghiyas and his son Sayyid Muhammad from Herat, Afghanistan to architect the tomb. Haji Begum had spent her remaining years in constructing the Humayun Tomb. Finally, in the year 1572 AD, the construction of the Humayun Tomb was completed.
Not only the Emperor grave but also Empress Haji Begum, Hamida Begum, Dara Shikoh (great-grandson of Humayun), and many other Mughal Emperors (Jahadar Shah, Rafi UI-Darajat, Farrukhsiyar, Alamgir and Muhammad Kam Bakhsh) graves are also placed in the same tomb, which together surrounded by Charbagh garden.
Why did they build the Humayun Tomb?
The tomb was built in the memory of the great Mughal Emperor Humayun. The construction of the tomb was started by his widow Haji Begum. The tomb was built under strong Persian architecture. This resembles the greatness and bravery fo the great King Humayun. Later on, building a Persian styled tomb to bury the graves became a tradition to the Mughals.

Yes, there is an entry fee for the Humayun Tomb Delhi. The entry fee differs between Indians and foreigners.
It is Rs.30 for Indian visitors and Rs.500 for foreign visitors.
The Delhi is open from sunrise to sunset and it is open for all 7 days in a week. But only 1 or 2 hours are allowed for a visitor to visit inside the Tomb. Evening visits are best to visit this place.
Best time to visit the Humayun Tomb
As Delhi city is well known for its pollution and heat, it is a better option to avoid the summer days for the tomb visit. The winter months are the best days to visit this place.
The perfect moist climate adds extra beauty to the location. It will be good if you prefer December or January to explore this place.
